AECT 's Divisions represent the breadth and depth of the field. Members may join the Divisions that best suit their interests.

Culture, Learning and Technology (CLT)

The purpose of CLT is to represent those members of AECT who are interested in issues at the intersection of culture, learning and technology. The function of CLT is to create a professional community for its members. CLT members have the opportunity to share professional experiences and learn from the experts in the field. Design & Development (D&D)

The Division of Design and Development represents the interests of AECT members concerned with systematic development (including design, evaluation and management) of instruction. The purpose of the Division is to promote the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning through the acquisition and application of the knowledge, skills and dispositions to: 1.)design conditions for learning through principles of instructional systems design, message design, instructional strategies, and learner characteristics; 2.) develop instructional materials and experiences using print, audiovisual, computer-based, and integrated technologies; and 3.) evaluate the adequacy of instruction and learning through principles of problem analysis, criterion-referenced measurement, and formative and summative evaluation. Distance Learning (DDL)

The purpose of DDL is to represent those members of AECT whose interest is in the design, development, implementation, evaluation, management, research and theory development of distance learning. Emerging Learning Technologies (ELT)

The purpose of the Division of Emerging Learning Technologies (DELT) is to promote the production and utilization of the latest innovative technologies through the creation of a network of individuals engaged in the design, development, implementation, use and/or study of these tools in myriad settings. Using a variety of distribution and discussion platforms. DELT will seek to foster dialogues centered on developing standards for development, study and ethical use of innovative technologies. International (INTL)

The International Division of the Association for Educational Communication and Technology (AECT) facilitates communication among educational technology professionals and students worldwide. The International Division promotes interactions that transcend international boundaries and cultural lines by mentoring and fostering educational endeavors, and coordinating communication with peer associations around the world. The International Division offers members opportunities for presentations and provides a hospitality area for all AECT conference attendees. Click here for more information.

Organizational Training & Performance (OTP)

The Division of Organizational Training and Performance strives to bridge the gap between research and practice, facilitating communication, collaboration and sharing between academics, students and practitioners across multiple disciplines interested in applying current theory and research to training and performance improvement initiatives. Systems Thinking & Change (STC)

The purpose of the STC Division shall be to serve those who are interested in systems thinking and change in education and other organizational settings including public and private schools, businesses, higher education, and technical institutes. We believe that fundamental change is necessary in educational settings, for meeting learners' needs, for dramatically improving the quality of education, and for enabling technology to reach its potential contribution to education in all settings. Teacher Education (TED)

The purpose of the Teacher Education Division is to represent those members of AECT whose interest is in the promotion of theory, research, and practice in support of the development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions of teacher educators who create effective learning environments for diverse learners through the integration of technology. The function of the Teacher Education Division is to create a professional community for its members. Through use of online discussion and face-to face conferences and workshops, the Teacher Education Division members have the opportunity to share professional experiences and learn from the experts in the field.
