During the annual convention, the Foundation were delighted to provide financial support for this year’s Strohbehn and Cochran Leadership Development interns: Wendy Gentry and Jason Engerman. In terms of conference fundraising, we raised an early estimate of $836 from the sale of convention pins and $615 from two 50/50 raffles, one at the beginning and ending general sessions. In a great example of paying it forward, Megan Murtaugh, a past intern and current student, drew her own ticket during the first raffle. Instead of accepting her share of the winnings, she used her winnings to purchase 40 tickets back from the Foundation which she then distributed to 40 students at the conference. Way to share the love, Megan! This was the first time we did two 50/50 raffles, and it appears to have been a popular approach. Our thanks to everyone who contributed and participated!
In November, we also welcomed three new Trustees who bring a great track record of AECT leadership and service to the Foundation: Eugene Kowch, Chris Sorensen and Heather Tillberg-Webb. Welcome, Eugene, Chris and Heather! We also recognized five Foundation Trustees whose terms recently ended and to whom the Board voted to award the new formal Trustee Emeritus status: Robert Harrell, Hans Wennberg, Charlie White, Deborah Anthony, and Addie Kinsinger. The newly-established Trustee Emeritus status is designed to recognize outstanding contributions to the Foundation, which definitely describes the many hours of work and years of service our five honorees have given the Foundation and the Association.
Finally, the Foundation initiated a review of our structure, branding, and activities that will help us better establish forms and processes for donations and fundraising activities – be on the lookout in future months for more information, resources, etc., from the Foundation!
