Todd Reeves wrote on the Divisions: School Media and Technology wall: Dear SMT Divisoners, I am mentoring an undergraduate student in Northern Illinois University’s Research Rookies program (, and am looking to recruit U.S. K-12 classroom teachers to participate in an online survey study that the student is conducting. We are having some recruitment challenges, and I'm wondering if any of you might be willing to forward information about the study to members of that population with whom you are personally or professionally acquainted. A recruitment message is included below. Please contact me directly at if you have any questions about the online survey study, or the dissemination of information about it to your personal or professional contacts. Note that participation in the study requires that individuals are currently U.S. K-12 classroom teachers. If individuals participate in the study, they can enter into a drawing for one of several Apple TVs. Thank you for considering helping my undergraduate student and I. Gratefully, Todd Reeves Subject: Research Opportunity for U.S. K-12 Teachers Dear Teachers,   You are invited to participate in a research study for U.S. K-12 teachers entitled Teachers' Use of Non-Academic Data for Decision-Making Purposes, being conducted by Todd Reeves, a faculty member, and Kayla Scheel, an undergraduate student, at Northern Illinois University. The purpose of the study is to examine access to, and analysis, interpretation, and use of non-academic data among U.S. K-12 in-service teachers.    The study will involve completion of an online survey about your access to, and analysis, interpretation, and use of non-academic data in the school context in which you work, your beliefs about data-driven decision making, and your professional and demographic characteristics. The online survey should take about 20 minutes to complete, and any information you provide will not be shared with the school or district in which you work.    If you choose to participate in the study, you will be able to enter into a drawing for 1 of 3 Apple TVs.    The survey and more information about the study can be accessed here: The survey is best completed on a personal computer (e.g., laptop, desktop), rather than a cell phone/mobile device.   We would be grateful if you would participate in our study. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Sincerely, Todd Reeves, Ph.D Assistant Professor, Educational Technology, Research and Assessment Northern Illinois University Kayla Scheel Student, Mathematical Sciences Northern Illinois University
